The Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) announces its inaugural Artist Residencies programme. The residency programme invites applications from artists, writers and researchers across the globe and the residencies are scheduled from 3 February to 30 March 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage deeply with the Tashkent community, exploring local heritage and creating meaningful work in dialogue with Uzbekistan’s cultural landscape. The programme is designed to run three times a year, welcoming emerging and established artists, including one Uzbek practitioner in each cohort, for an intensive eight-week residency.
The residencies are located in Tashkent’s historic mahallas: Namuna and Khast Imom. These unique spaces combine traditional heritage with modern facilities. Namuna will host up to four artists working across various disciplines, while Khast Imom, featuring Central Asia’s first curatorial library, will accommodate one to two researchers or curators.
Participation benefits include travel, visa, and accommodation expenses, a scholarship, necessary materials (within the agreed limit), the participation in public events (1–2 events during the residency), and an exhibition of the final results in the space of the Artist Residencies at the end of the stay in Tashkent.
