unesco working conditions

The new UNESCO study "Culture & Working Conditions for Artists" uncovers persisting and emerging challenges artists and cultural professionals face and examines how countries around the world are addressing these issues through policymaking.

View the results of the study here in Englisch, French and Spanish.

The study is based on a global survey conducted in 2018 on the impact of the 1980 Recommendation concerning the Status of the Artist, designed to track developments and identify emerging trends related to the status of the artist: over 90 responses from UNESCO Member States and non-governmental organizations were received.

IGBK participated in the survey procedure together with the touring artists project partner International Theatre Institute (ITI) Germany, above all on questions of international mobility of artists and with regard to the topics human rights and artistic freedom.
