With the continuation of onAIRISM in 2022, IGBK is again addressing the work and visions of artist residencies (AIR).

Artists' residencies are an intrinsic part of the mobility infrastructure in the art and cultural field. However, ecological, political and economic crises around the world today are widely questioning the mobility concepts of recent decades and are giving rise to a desire to render AIR programs more sustainable.

While the focus in 2021 was on the Americas, in 2022 onAIRISM is engaging with AIR programs from individual countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. We are particularly interested in the interaction and networks between these countries. How does an exchange take place? What commonalities or differences make this exchange particularly productive?

The conference will present keynotes, inputs, videos and other formats and builds up on the June 2022 workshop, which assembled AIR program organizers and artists from Buenos Aires, Colombo, Dakar, Lagos, Majalenghka, N'Gaparou, Phnom Penh, San José, Vadodara, Wisconsin Dells, Yogyakarta, as well as partners from the 2021 IGBK project onAIRISM - challenges and transitions.

The conference will be held via Zoom in English.
