Position paper | January 2026 | BFDK and IGBK
On 22 October 2025, the event "Taking Responsibility #3: Overcoming Boundaries through Interdisciplinary Collaboration" took place in Leipzig, organized by the Bundesverband Freie Darstellende Künste e.V. (Federal Association for the Independent Performing Arts, BFDK) in cooperation with the IGBK.
The independent performing arts and the visual arts are professional structures that form independent systems in terms of their content, aesthetics, and artistic practices, as well as their working, cooperation, and financing structures. That is why it is important to us to develop measures and strategies that contribute to a better starting point for cross-disciplinary collaboration and transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches.
This position paper summarizes the key points made by the invited speakers in the form of core theses and addresses the most important aspects. How can a funding landscape be designed in the future to meet the demand for complex and innovative ways of thinking and working?
