LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme is a place for experiment and learning within an international and local art community. The thirteen year old art programme and nonprofit artist residency hosts five international studios at the same time and is based at the Spinnerei Leipzig, a 10 hectare large former cotton factory of over one hundred artist studios as well as art institutions. The Programme philosophy is to create impulses through exchanging ideas and knowledge as well as artistic traditions with the local art community and learning in cooperations. We believe that leaving a comfort zone opens new perspectives, international exchange broadens mind sets and widens creative approaches. The confrontation with the other fosters new ways of thinking and experimenting. It allows tolerance and new ways of thinking. Project partner besides the Atelier für Radierung is the Grassi Museum für Völkerkunde zu Leipzig and its anthropological collection. There is a monthly programme artists may participate in of art critic visits, excursions, community talks, open studios and the Rundgang exhibitions while artists and LIA staff talk about the artists work to the public and engage artists and the public in a dialogue. Arriving at the residency: In case you arrive at the train station from Berlin or another place, once you arrive at the Leipzig train station you can either take the tram number 14 to Plagwitz or a taxi for 18 euros. From Leipzig airport, the taxi is 50€. It will be great if you can say if you are coming by tram or taxi because in case you can by tram I can go to pick you up at the tram stop and if you are coming by taxi I can find you in the Spinnerei because the elevator is a little bit hidden.
