(Supposedly like) Oil & Water
For our upcoming exhibition "(Supposedly like) Oil & Water", we invite Berlin-based African & Afro-descendant Queer Artists across multiple disciplines to submit work that is raw, unapologetic, and deeply rooted in their lived experience.
We seek artists whose practices boldly question (post)colonial and Western narratives that reduce African queer existence to mere labels and stereotypes.
This exhibition centres works that reclaim humanity, complexity and joy while exploring Afro-indigenous ways of knowing, learning and creating.
DISCIPLINES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
Visual & Digital art
Video art and Short film
Photography
Sculptures
Sound & light art
Multimedia & immersive installations
Performing art (including time-based & site-responsive practices)
Textıle & Fıber art
We welcome submissions from emerging, mid-career, and established artists across all disciplines, regardless of professional background.
This exhibition is a platform for amplifying marginalised voices, questioning the status quo and breaking down stigmas.
SELECTION
The team will review all submissions and the selected works will be announced on the 20th of February.
