Inspired by Nuit Blanche arts festivals from around the world, DLECTRICITY has presented three major light-based art + technology festivals in 2012, 2014 and 2017. For this year’s edition (running 25-26 September 2020), this Detroit festival has launched an open call for proposals: ‘from lasers and 3D mapping to dance performances and large-scale video projections, we want to see how you’d illuminate the city landscape’.
DLECTRICITY will take place outside along Midtown’s Woodward Corridor and will also include installations at DTE Beacon Park, an expansive 1.2 acres green space located on the western edge of downtown Detroit.
Artists, dancers, musicians, collectives, organisations, design groups, performers, creative techs, light designers and architects are among those who’ve applied in the past, and applications are welcome from all creators.
DLECTRICITY will cover the cost of generators, fuel, tents and scaffolds for projectors and security. An artist honorarium of $1000 is offered to selected artists, alongside production support up to $4000 based on needs and assessment. For international artists, DLECTRICITY will cover costs associated with visa applications, and provide guidance through the visa application process, as well as legal support.
