As part of the European Secretariat of German Culture NGOs, the IGBK is active in Culture Action Europe (CAE).
CAE, based in Brussels, is the largest interdisciplinary forum for the non-governmental cultural sector in Europe. With more than 200 member organisations from both Western and Eastern Europe, CAE represents the interests of artists and cultural workers and acts as a mediator vis-a-vis the European political and administrative bodies.
In 2003 the European Secretariat organised the EFAH annual conference in Berlin: "Migration and European Cultural Policy". In 2019, the European Secretariat was one of the cooperation partners for CAE's annual conference "Culture Crops - Cultural Practices in Non-Urban Territories" in Konstanz and Kreuzlingen.
