Since 1998, Villa Concordia has become a place where new literature, visual arts and music are created, where artists from different cultures meet, exchange ideas and - sometimes together - develop projects. The name "Concordia" promises harmony and unison. And indeed, a scholarship at the International Artists' Residence Villa Concordia offers established artists a quiet place for undisturbed concentrated work for 5-11 months. Artists cannot apply for this scholarship themselves, because the scholarship holders are invited by a board of curators and thus awarded by the Free State of Bavaria! At more than 80 events a year, citizens interested in art have the opportunity to get to know the artists and their works in the context of exhibitions, readings and concerts. The International Artists‘ Residence offers a high-quality programme - usually with free admission. Self-application is not possible, our scholarship holders are selected by a board of trustees
In Villa Concordia itself there are two flats in a baroque ambience, in the new Orangerie building completed in 1999 in the garden behind it there are six maisonette flats and in the second building Neuer Ebracher Hof, the former town palace of the monks of Ebrach Monastery, there are four flats, as well as several artist studios. In addition, there is an exhibition room in the modern annex of the Villa Concordia, and a number of rooms for presentations as well as installations. Villa Concordia is also the seat of the main office.
