Since many years, the Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (IGBK) issues the IAA International Identity Card for professional visual artists (residing in Germany).
It includes ticket price reductions or free admission to many art museums and numerous galleries – in Germany as well as worldwide. The identity card is valid for two years.
All organized and non-organized visual artists (no students) can apply for the identity card. We need the following information:
- A verification of your professional artistic activity. You can for example send us your CV or refer to your website to give us a short overview about your last year's exhibitions.
- Alternative to that, if you are a member of either BBK (not bbk berlin), Deutscher Künstlerbund or GEDOK (only the section "visual arts"), send us a copy of your membership card.
- Furthermore we need a photo and your permanent address in Germany to send you the card.
After having checked your request briefly, we will send you our banking account numbers. You should then transfer the administrative charge of 35,– Euro or the reduced amount of 10,– for BBK, Deutscher Künstlerbund or GEDOK members. We will send you the card by postal mail, please note that it usually cannot be picked up in our offices.
You can send us all information via mail or e-mail to the contact below

For the application, processing and shipping of the International Identity Card for professional visual artists we save and process the data you send us until we can expect the card to have reached you, usually for about a month after shipping. After that, we only keep your name linked to your cards’ number and if necessary your address as part of a bill, further data will be deleted.
If you would like us to keep the other data you have sent us for a faster renewal of the Card in case of loss or after expiration, we need your explicit approval to do so. Please instruct us to keep your data by email within a few weeks after your application, otherwise we delete it as explained above. We treat your personal data confidentially and do not pass it on to third parties.
Please note that the data transmission / communication via internet (for example in form of E-Mail conversations) can have security gaps and therefore a flawless protection from the access of third parties cannot be guaranteed by us.
Selection of countries and museums accepting the IAA International Identity Card
Many more institutions worldwide accept the card, however not all countries keep official lists. Have a look at the website of IAA Europe for further information.
Since August 2012 the Berlin based company "Modulor" allows a discount of 10 % (on all discountable articles) for all owners of the identity card.
