The artist, curator and author Qiu Zhijie has been involved in the development of different off-spaces in China, in Beijing as well as in Shanghai and Hangzhou. Among other things, Qiu Zhijie was the director of the "Long March Space" in Beijing and implemented the ‘Long March Project’ in 2003. He is currently teaching at the "National Chinese Academy" at Hangzhou. Qiu Zhijie gives an insight in the rapid historical changes in China, the ups and downs of experimental art spaces as well as the developments in the contemporary art scene from the middle of the 90s until today.
