On 19 June 2026 in Berlin

On Friday, 19 June 2026, the IGBK General Assembly took place in Berlin.

We could welcome new delegates from our member associations Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künste (BBK) - Deutscher Künstlerbund - GEDOK and a new board was elected.

The new IGBK board is composed as follows:

Congratulations! We are much looking forward to the cooperation in the next years.

Justin Time takes over the position as speaker of the board of IGBK and succeeds Marcel Noack, who was the spokesperson of IGBK for the last three years.

We say thank you to Marcel for the very fruitful work and cooperation in the last years.

Our great thanks also go to the previous IGBK board members María Linares and Susanne Meier-Faust, who did not run again at this meeting.

Topics discussed at the General's Assembly included the IGBK's annual project "Opening Space | Promoting Encounters," plans for the IGBK's 70th anniversary in 2027, and further events for residence operators in Germany and IGBK info sessions in 2026, as well as an exchange about our collaborative projects such as "touring artists" and the upcoming collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Belgrade.

Guided tour and input on the eve of the General's Assembly

On the eve of the assembly, in addition to a guided tour of the Haus der Statistik for the IGBK delegates, there was an input and exchange with artist and Haus der Statistik board member Harry Sachs regarding the pilot project as well as artistic strategies and alliances.

  • Presentation by Harry Sachs, artist, co-founder and director of ZK/U, and board member of ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG – Cooperative for Urban Development (Haus der Statistik), Berlin
  • Followed by a moderated discussion
  • Welcome by Constanze Brockmann (IGBK Managing Director)
  • Introduction and moderation by Doris Weinberger (visual artist, co-project lead "Opening Space | Promoting Encounters," and IGBK board member) and Carolin Schulz (IGBK office)

The tour and the event took place as part of the IGBK’s annual project "Opening Space | Promoting Encounters." In this project, the IGBK explores local artistic initiatives that take a multidisciplinary approach, involving local communities, diverse fields of knowledge, and public spaces in their work.

What is the scope for interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and socially engaged art practices? What approaches and models can be identified? How do artists and participants, through collaboration, gain practical strategies and methods for civil society resilience?
