The written documentation for the seminar "Change of Perspective: Inclusion in the Visual Arts" is now available online (PDF in German only).

With the seminar "Change of Perspective: Inclusion in the Visual Arts," which took place in Berlin in March 2025 at the initiative of the British Council, the organizing artists' associations—the BBK Bundesverband, the Deutsche Künstlerbund, and the IGBK—aim to provide impetus for addressing inclusion more consciously and integrating it more sustainably into our association work.

This documentation was compiled by the offices of the participating artists' associations and summarizes the individual inputs and key findings from the seminar day. In addition, this documentation is supplemented by further links and information. It is intended to contribute to further integrating the topic of inclusion in the visual arts into the work of our associations and networks. The complete video recordings of the lectures and discussion rounds are already available online.

The seminar addressed issues of structural gatekeeping in artistic education and practice, focusing on promoting inclusion within artists' associations in Germany.

The seminar was organized by the British Council in collaboration with the Deutscher Künstlerbund, the IGBK, and the BBK Bundesverband, and was facilitated and moderated by Dr. Kate Brehme (Berlinklusion). It brought together experts from the cultural sector in Germany and the United Kingdom who are committed to sustainable change and inclusion.

The best practice examples presented showed how inclusive futures in the visual arts can be conceived and implemented in practice in the German cultural sector.
