The Working Group of German International Residency Programs organises a nationwide conference of international residency programs at ZK/U in Berlin. The conference focuses on residencies as spaces of protection and possibility for artists. How can they provide safety, enable international mobility, and respond to social, political, and institutional challenges?
The conference opens with a keynote by Rachel Cohen (University of Chicago/American Academy in Berlin Fellow 2026); it will conclude with a panel discussion on the topic of visa policy and international residencies.
Throughout the day, thematic sessions, collaborative formats, and open exchanges will shape the program, creating space for networking, knowledge-sharing, and new collaborations. One of the sessions on the topic of visas and mobility will be led by Yusuf Sahilli from the touring artists team.
You can find the complete program here (in German).
