He is a co-founder and co-director of ZK/U (Center for Art and Urbanistics)—an interdisciplinary center for urban research and artistic practice located in a former freight yard in Berlin-Moabit since 2012. The ZK/U sees itself as an artistic practice lab that addresses pressing social challenges, identifies unconventional approaches, and makes them tangible through experimental prototypes. The ZK/U connects global discourses with local proposals for action. At the intersection of art, research, and everyday life, it examines the multifaceted dynamics of urban spaces and develops experimental formats and projects that serve as models.
The artist collective KUNSTrePUBLIK, as the organizing body behind ZK/U, has been working on projects in public spaces for over fifteen years. In addition to providing artistic direction for ZK/U’s various project series (CityToolBox, Hacking Urban Furniture, Artists-Displacement, Ständige Vertretung, and many more), KUNSTrePUBLIK is active internationally in the arts and participates in urban policy discourses in Berlin, including as a founding member of the Haus der Statistik initiative, the Network of Project Spaces, and the Network for Urban Practice.
Harry Sachs is a co-founder of AbBA—Alliance of Threatened Berlin Studio Houses—an activist coalition against the spatial displacement of Berlin’s artistic infrastructure, as well as ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG, a cooperative dedicated to inclusive, socially and culturally diverse urban development.
At the start of the general assembly on 18 June 2026, Harry Sachs gave an input on the "Haus der Statistik" pilot project at the Stadtwerkstatt in Berlin.
