The international artist residency ‘Alte Tischlerei Grünheide’ near Berlin is a place for figurative painting and drawing. With its quiet location directly on the lake and its proximity to Berlin (25 minutes to Berlin-Ostkreuz), the ‘Alte Tischlerei’ offers space for concentrated work, for collegial exchange among a maximum of 10 scholarship holders at the time as well as for immersion in Berlin’s vibrant art scene. In this artist residency you will find the freedom to deepen and reflect on your own artistic themes and methods.
Work is carried out in a 100 m2 hall with northern lights and high ceilings. Accommodation is in mini lofts; from 1-person rooms to an 80 m2 apartment with its own kitchen for up to 4 people. A shared kitchen is available for self-catering. Simple woodwork can be implemented in the wood workshop. In the immediate vicinity there are shops for daily needs. There are various art supply stores in Berlin. Numerous leisure activities are possible on the property and in the immediate vicinity, especially water sports (swimming, canoeing, etc.).
The artists-in-residence are presented to the public through press work and on social media. Once a week there is a joint work meeting followed by a meal together. Optionally life drawing is offered. At the end of the residency, the processes and results will be presented to the public in an open studio.
Professional artists with a focus on figurative painting and drawing can apply. An academic degree is not mandatory for the application. Both individual and group applications are possible.

The following documents must be submitted digitally:
– CV with training, exhibition practice, funding, etc., maximum 2 pages DIN A4, at least 11 pt. font size
– Portfolio in a PDF (max. 5 MB) with images of max. 20 works with corresponding information on dimensions, material and technology; possibly thematic information
– Letter of motivation, maximum 1 page DIN A4, at least 11 pt. Font size with indication of the desired length of stay (1 to 3 months) and the desired period
– Description of the work project, maximum 1 page DIN A4, at least 11 pt. font size
– No press reports, no exhibition tickets or flyers, no catalogues!
