The AlmResidency is an artist residency in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. For nine years now, five artists have gathered annually for an intensive ten-day period of work and research in two secluded mountain huts.

With 42 international residents to date, the AlmResidency has grown into a recognized cultural institution, appreciated far beyond the borders of Bavaria.
The Ochsenhütte, with its history spanning over a century, offers three artists an inspiring home in the heart of a dense forest. The stove provides comforting warmth, while the nearby stream supplies fresh water. Higher up, the Jagaheisl gives two more residents space for creative work. A simple outdoor shower with a watering can in front of the hut offers a sweeping view down into the valley.
The forrest and the huts will be your personal studio and living room. At the end of the residency there will be an Art Hike that leads all visitors that are interested in art and nature from one hut to the other. The residents give them a brief insight into their work in progress. Half a year after the residency there is a exhibition Munich. Every year the team choses a different location in a different part of the city.

During the residency we will offer a forestry workshop and artist dinner to get to know each other and the nature around.
Watch out for the yearly topic of the open call, which will be published in the beginning of every year on our website and Instagram.
