Three online seminars in March 2026 | touring artists and Kreativ Kultur Berlin

In der Veranstaltungsreihe "Get started! Erste Schritte in die Selbstständigkeit" von Kreativ Kultur Berlin in Zusammenarbeit mit touring artists bieten Referent*innen Einblicke in verschiedene Themen, die für den Start in die Selbstständigkeit von Künstler*innen und Kulturakteur*innen in Deutschland wichtig sind.

Drei Veranstaltungen finden im März online und auf Englisch statt.

Wednesday, 4 March, 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m.
#01 Get started! Introduction to freelancing

What does freelancing mean in Germany? How is your activity classified? Where do you register and sign up? The online seminar guides you through the first steps, from registering as self-employed to learning about the key differences between "freelance" activities and other forms of self-employment.

Prior free registration required (limited seats)

Wednesday, 11 March, 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m.
#02 Get started! Orientation in taxes and invoicing

Writing invoices, navigating the "Kleinunternehmer" regulation, or understanding value-added tax regulations for artists and teachers — freelancing comes with challenges beyond your actual work. This seminar breaks down Germany’s income tax and value-added tax (VAT) system for self-employed persons and freelancers, focusing on the rules for transactions within Germany only.

Prior free registration required (limited seats)

Wednesday, 18 March, 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m.
#3 Get started! Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) and social insurance basic

What is the Künstlersozialkasse (KSK) and how do you become a member? What should you know about the application process and what happens once you’re insured? What if you can’t join the KSK and what other insurance options should you consider?

Felix Sodemann from touring artists will introduce the KSK and answer some basic questions. Afterwards the speakers Felix Sodemann, Andri Jürgensen (Lawyer specialising in KSK), and Kathleen Parker (Managing director Red Tape), are available to answer any additional questions in breakout sessions.

Prior free registration required (limited seats)
