David Guez Art Studio invites expressions of interest from art writers, critics, curators, researchers, and cultural journalists interested in writing a commissioned introductory essay or preface to an upcoming publication.
The catalog brings together a selection of abstract paintings by David Guez and a new cycle of poems written by the Italian art critic and curator Paolo Levi in response to David Guez’s work.
The publication explores a dialogue between contemporary abstraction and poetry, where image and language operate as parallel modes of perception and interpretation. Rather than serving as illustration, the poems engage the paintings as independent yet interconnected works, creating a conversation across visual and literary forms.
We are seeking a writer capable of situating this collaboration within a broader artistic, cultural, literary, or historical context while bringing an original and compelling perspective to the publication.
Please include in your submission:
A short introduction
A brief biography or CV
Links or PDFs of selected published texts
Applicants are encouraged to include a brief note on what interests them about David Guez’s work, the dialogue between painting and poetry, or the collaboration with Paolo Levi.
