In August 2024, the German Federal Foreign Office submitted the “Fourth German State Report on the Implementation of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity” to UNESCO. The report highlights Germany's most important progress and challenges in implementing the Convention between 2020 and 2023 on the basis of around 100 measures and initiatives.

The report was compiled in a participatory process lasting more than a year in collaboration with government and civil society stakeholders. The National Contact Point at the German Commission for UNESCO coordinated the process.

UNESCO's national reports facilitate the national and international exchange of experiences and good practice examples and contribute to evidence-based, informed and participatory cultural policy. They are incorporated into UNESCO's global cultural reports. The next Global Report is expected to be published in summer 2025.

You can download the “Fourth German State Report (2024)” as a PDF in German from the website of the German Commission for UNESCO (DUK) here.

Information portal touring artists and residencies mapping on the IGBK website included in the Report

The work of the IGBK is also mentioned in two places in the report: Firstly, with the information portal and advisory service for artists and creative professionals working internationally www.touring-artists.info, which the International Theatre Institute (ITI) Germany, the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and the IGBK have been implementing together for many years. On the other hand, the residency mapping on the IGBK website, which was introduced in 2023 and is accompanied since then by (digital) networking meetings to provide impetus for (inter)regional networking of residency programs in Germany.

The next World Report is expected to be published in summer 2025.
