FAQ for refugees from Ukraine
On the starting page of the touring artists project, you will find an FAQ with information on the general regulations on the right of residence and social law that apply to refugees from Ukraine who are staying and working in Germany.

The helpdesk service of touring artists, within the framework of the project International Artists Info Berlin (IAIB), is also open to artists arriving in Germany from Ukraine.
Furthermore, upon request, touring artists also offers info sessions on residence law issues for host organizations and counseling centers.

Funding
- The Goethe-Institute, together with the organization Artists at Risk, arranges support offers such as residencies, scholarships or even possible job opportunities. Further information on this matching-portal and support program here. The deadline for submission was the 31 October 2023.
- The Land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern provides funds for the state's scholarship institutions to support refugee artists. You can find information here under the heading "Hilfsprogramm" (in German).
- Bayern has created a special fund for Ukrainian artists. Eligible for funding are new projects with supra-regional significance, which are carried out by a non-governmental organization in 2022 and have a connection to Ukraine.
- The city of Hamburg currently supports artists seeking protection with the INTRO program, so that they can continue to be artistically productive and to open up new perspectives. The deadline for submission was the 1th June 2023.
- The German-Czech Future Fund has launched the special program Helping Ukraine Together (information in German) , with which it is possible to support German-Czech-Ukrainian project under favorable conditions (fast-track procedure, 70% total funding up to 4000 €). The deadline for applications was 31.12.2022.
- Within the framework of Braunschweig Projects 2023/2024, the HBK Braunschweig offers scholarships for Ukrainian artists who had to flee Ukraine. The deadline for applications was 26.10.2022.
- The Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe has launched a program Weltoffenes Berlin for economic and cultural freedom designed to help professionals working in art, media, and culture who intend or are being forced to leave their countries of origin become established in Berlin’s art and culture scene. Current deadline was 22.09.2022.
- The Goethe-Institut awarded project funding to Ukrainian cultural organizations through the Stabilization Fund for Culture and Education in Ukraine. Current application deadline was 30.09.22.
- The Martin Roth-Initiative has been accepting project applications for temporary relocation to Germany, however with an earliest start date of the temporary stay in September 2022 (deadline expired).
- Together with the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, the Goethe-Institute offers emergency grants for cultural workers from Ukraine. The offer is aimed at independent artists but also at employees of partner institutions. Current application period: 05.09.-18.09.2022
- The Cultural Foundation of the State of Saxony also set up a Saxony-Ukraine Cultural Fund (information only in German). Possible funded projects were, for example, the facilitation of residencies, scholarships, hospitations or networking activities for refugee artists and cultural workers (as of May 2022, an application is no longer possible).

- Goethe-Institute provides information on its website for artists from Ukraine / FAQ Arrival in Germany
in German | на русском | на українська - The site contactsforukrainians.art compiles information for artists from Ukraine for many countries in Europe on one page, from translation services, chat groups, tips for hosting and residencies and much more.
- The Deutscher Kulturrat also bundles information for artists from the Ukraine on its website (in German).
- Representatives from the fields of culture, film and television, as well as the media industry, together with Jobnet.AG, and on the initiative of trade unions and employers' associations, have founded the network new-start.media to help refugees from Ukraine and other countries find a job with a job portal.
Platforms and contact points by institutions in the "Bundesländer"
- The platform "Kultur hilft Kultur" is an initiative of the Kulturrat NRW and aims to help refugee artists and cultural workers from Ukraine to find their way in the cultural life of North Rhine-Westphalia.
- Together with the ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen in Stuttgart, the land of Baden-Württemberg has set up a contact point to which artists from Ukraine and cultural institutions in Baden-Württemberg can turn. The contact point is intended to serve as a first point of contact, offering advice and arranging contacts in Baden-Württemberg.
- Also the Kulturrat in Thüringen aims to connect artists from Ukraine and institutions, that want to help, to work together. Through an Online-Form one can insert searches and proposals.
- The city of Hamburg collects information for those seeking help, also in Ukrainian, here.
- The Burg Giebichstein Kunsthochschule Halle offers information and services for students, artists and teachers from Ukraine, including the possibility of guest studentships and support in changing universities. On the same page you can also find a lot of information about state-specific regulations and offers in Saxony (scroll down for the English version).
- The Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig also offers support for students, scientists and other people from Ukraine with and without Ukrainian passport, more information here on the website.
Information and support by international and European networks
- The EU Commission/ Creative Europe has published a special call to support Ukrainian artists. The call supports artists outside their country, cultural organisations in Ukraine, and preparation for the post-war recovery of the Ukrainian cultural and creative sector in the medium term. More information here. Deadline 29 November 2022.
- Resartis has set up a page with information about "Emergency Residencies for artists from Ukraine", here you can find the information, which is updated regularly.

Philanthropy for Ukraine is a portal that brings together initiatives and calls for donations from the European philanthropy sector and NGO community in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
Expired deadlines: - The European Cultural Foundation has announced a Ukraine edition of its Culture of Solidarity fund ( 25.05.2022: application window is temporarily on pause, check the website regularly to see when applications are possible again).
touring artists is a project of the IGBK, the Internationales Theaterinstitut Zentrm Deutschland (ITI) and the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland (DTD), initiated and funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. International Artists Info Berlin (IAIB) is a cooperation of IGBK, ITI and DTD with SMartDe - Netzwerk für Kreative e.V. and is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe of the Land of Berlin as part of the project "Weltoffenes Berlin".
