On the Move's 2024 Cultural Mobility Flows Report on the helpdesk statistics of the Mobility Information Points (MIPs) - which include touring artists - is now online.

Mobility Information Points are organizations that support artists and cultural workers by providing free information and advice on administrative issues related to cross-border mobility.

The Cultural Mobility Flows Report contains information on the activities of the MIPs over the past year. It covers two main areas: Consultations (face-to-face or online sessions where the MIPs provide individual advice to artists or cultural workers) and events (usually workshops on specific topics related to cultural mobility).

The report is based on data collected during the year from nine MIPs in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

The MIPs provided a total of 2,187 consultations, which means around 42 consultations per week!

The most popular topics were visas/residence and work permits. The advisory services were mainly used for the mobility of artists and mainly concerned temporary mobility. Of the consultations related to permanent change of residence, approximately 17.2% concerned vulnerable artists.

The report helps to explain the complex work of the MIPs, highlighting their expertise and the needs of the sector.
