Visarte Schweiz and IGBK, supported by touring artists
Visarte Schweiz, Berufsverband Visuelle Kunst and the IGBK - in cooperation with touring artists - offered a “Lunch Session” on 17 June 2025 on the subject of art transport between Germany and Switzerland. The info session was primarily aimed at self-employed artists who organize their own transports between the two countries and do not use the services of shipping companies or receive extensive support from partner organizations. The focus was on the two topics of definitive import into Switzerland/Germany and temporary use of artworks in Switzerland/Germany for exhibition purposes.
The updated checklist contains important administrative procedures for art transorts to Switzerland and Germany, as well as import and export regulations that must be observed in both countries.
The information in the checklist has been carefully researched and serves as a guide to customs procedures. It is not legally binding and cannot replace professional advice from customs authorities, customs agencies, tax advisors, etc.
We are always interested in practical tips and experiences. If you would like to share information about cross-border work between Switzerland and Germany, please send an email to: art[at]igbk.de or office[at]visarte.ch. Such tips are very helpful to us in expanding the information we offer.
You can find further helpful information on transport and customs on the touring artists website.
